About 200 artifacts found during archaeological excavations on Triumph Square in Moscow for the first nine months of operation, told reporters on Friday the chief archaeologist of the capital, deputy head of Cultural Heritage, Leonid Kondrashov.

Excavations in the area of   Triumph Square began in late September 2010, they precede the construction work - there will be built underground parking under the "Big Leningradka", within which to create bessvetofornaya route from the center of Moscow to the Moscow Ring Road.

Triumph Square on the site once was the border of Moscow, from the XVIII century there were triumphal arches, building customs and guardhouse, passed Earthen wall of the city, stood the house of drivers. Previously, archaeologists have found there more than 100 items of different eras, including the Dutch pipes, women's jewelry and coins and theater tickets.

"The second stage started a month ago. At present, the area of   excavation is 240 square meters, the depth of the cultural layer of 1.5 meters," - said Kondrashov.

According to him, the second phase will be completed during the summer season. Archaeologists have discovered some 200 artifacts.

"We found a settlement Yamskaya settlement, for historians it is of interest, for example, what is the life of drivers," - said the chief archaeologist.

He explained that the artifacts were discovered by coachmen later objects at the theater.
