Duration of grants for housing may be extended

Moscow City Duma is planning to appeal to the Government of Russia with a proposal to change the term of the grants for accommodation and utilities, extending it one year.

According to the rules approved by the Government of Russia, now the documents for grants to be collected every six months, until December 2005 the term of the grant of 1 year.

"In the case of changes in the rules, this will facilitate the fate of many recipients of grants," - noted the chairman of the Moscow City Duma committee on urban planning and housing policies Stepan Orlov.

The meeting considered two options for treatment in the government of Russia. One of them states that the changes will affect only non-working pensioners.

In another project, the right to establish the timing of grants to be transferred to the executive authority of the Federation. At the same time period may not exceed one year.
