More than 200 projects have stopped in Moscow for 3 years for the conservation of monuments

More than 200 investment projects were suspended in Moscow over the past three years in order to preserve historical and cultural monuments of the capital, told reporters on Tuesday, the prefect of the Central Administrative District (CAO), Moscow, Alexei Alexandrov.

"More than 200 investment projects were suspended for three years, as were the grounds that their implementation could conflict with the law on Protection of Monuments", - he said.

According to Alexandrov, in general, over the past two years, more than a thousand objects in Moscow were declared monuments.

As noted, in turn, the chief architect of Moscow Alexander Kuzmin, the city feels a lack of hotels, while not currently built to about 70% of the planned hotels. However, he stressed that the interests of the investor should be protected if its decisions are not contrary to law.

"We must live according to laws. If something is wrong with the law, you need to change it, but not vice versa," - he added.

Earlier, Deputy Chairman Moskomnaslediye Aleksei Emelianov said that the investment projects involving construction of facilities within the boundaries of cultural monuments, implemented in Moscow will not. In this case, said Emelianov, existing buildings can be brought into line with the historical monuments.

He also added that, according to preliminary data, about 30% of the town is derived from a list of areas where it is possible for housing.
