Moscow refuses to costly failures of transport projects - Mayor

The Moscow authorities do not intend to implement over-expensive projects for the construction of transport infrastructure, which do not justify such expenses, said Mayor Sergei Sobyanin on Wednesday at a meeting on the development of the Northern Administrative District.

According to the mayor, in 2009-2010 in the development of transport infrastructure CAO has invested 45 billion rubles, and this year's planned investment of 27 billion rubles.

"Based on these astronomical money, you could assume that the transport situation has been resolved in the district. But this did not happen, because, unfortunately, the planning was so - the funds were invested in one object" - said Sobyanin.

Thus, the construction Halabyan-Baltic tunnel on the "Falcon" cost the city budget more than 60 billion rubles.

"By investing this money, we actually have not received anything in terms of real change in traffic conditions. Henceforth, we certainly will not do so," - said Sobyanin.

According to him, the authorities intend to implement a much less costly reconstruction projects vyletnyh highways, conduct local activities to improve the transport situation, which provide a quick and comprehensive effect.

"But coming into a local object, a lot of money - tens of billions, of course will have no effect," - says the mayor. Nevertheless, he added, the object will complete construction, continue to develop so that he was involved in the transport system.

The mayor also said that the Moscow authorities decided to abandon the construction of commercial centers in the underground space Pushkin Square and the square of the Belarusian Railway Station.

In addition, he reported that in the metro stations "River Station", "Water Stadium and Voykovskaya the north of Moscow will construct transport interchange nodes from intercepting parking lots.

On his initiative, developed a plan of priority measures to combat traffic jams in Moscow called the City, convenient for life.
